The 2026 Cadillac CT5 enters the new model year with only a few minor updates, once again appearing as a luxury sedan full of style and sharp handling. While four-door cars are focused primarily on comfort, performance and premium features, the 2026 Cadillac CT5 does offer a bit of light trailering capability in certain configurations. Now, GM Authority is taking a closer look at the towing capacity of the 2026 Cadillac CT5.

Looking at the numbers, the 2026 Cadillac CT5 is capable of towing up to 1,000 pounds, or 454 kilograms, in certain trims. These figures apply to the Premium Luxury RWD and Premium Luxury AWD trims when equipped with the 2.0L I4 LSY turbocharged petrol engine or the LGY 3.0L V6 turbocharged petrol engine. Meanwhile, the Sport RWD and Sport AWD trims also tip the scales at 1,000 pounds, but only when equipped with the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY. All variants of this crane use an axle ratio of 2.85.

In particular, the high-performance CT5-V variant is not suitable for towing. Both the CT5-V RWD and CT5-V AWD, powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 LGY engine, feature a maximum trailer weight of zero pounds. The same goes for the top-of-the-range CT5-V Blackwing, regardless of whether it’s equipped with a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission, with both configurations running the same engine specs (supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4), but also having a towing weight of zero pounds.

As for what’s under the sheet metal, the 2026 Cadillac CT5’s powertrain lineup is identical to the previous 2025 model, with a turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY making 237 horsepower, a twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 LGY making 360 horsepower, and a supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 making 668 horsepower. GM’s 10-speed automatic transmission handles shifting duties for most of the lineup, while all variants use the GM Alpha 2 platform. Production of the 2026 Cadillac CT5 continues at GM’s Lansing Grand River Assembly plant in Michigan.
