Here’s How Much The 2026 Cadillac CT4 Can Tow

Posted on

The 2026 Cadillac CT4 presents the final model year for the luxury sedan nameplate, which, as GM Authority discussed earlier, will be discontinued at the end of the 2026 model year. Although the CT4 was designed first and foremost as a four-door luxury compact car for passengers, it still offers a relatively limited amount of trailering capability in certain configurations. Now, GM Authority is taking a closer look at the towing capacity of the 2026 Cadillac CT4.

The 2026 Cadillac CT4 can tow up to 1,000 pounds.

Judging by the numbers, most versions of the 2026 Cadillac CT4 are capable of towing up to 1,000 pounds, or 454 kilograms. This figure applies to the Luxury RWD and Luxury AWD models which are equipped with a 2.0L I4 LSY turbocharged petrol engine, as well as the Premium Luxury RWD and Premium Luxury AWD variants which are equipped with a 2.0L I4 LSY turbocharged petrol engine or a 2.7L I4 L3B turbocharged petrol engine. Sport RWD and Sport AWD trims equipped with the 2.0L turbo also have the same 1,000-pound maximum weight, with this towing capability configuration using a 2.85 axle ratio.

Interestingly, not all versions of the 2026 Cadillac CT4 are rated for towing. The CT4-V in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations delivers a maximum trailer weight of zero pounds, despite having a 2.7L turbocharged power plant, while the track-ready CT4-V Blackwing is also not rated for towing with the six-speed manual and 10-speed automatic transmissions. That means buyers shopping for towing capability in the 2026 Cadillac CT4 lineup will stick with the non-V variant.

The CT4 owner’s manual provides some insight into general towing techniques and tips. For example, the automaker says owners should avoid towing a trailer during the first 500-mile break-in period, and also perform the first oil change before installing it. The first 500 miles of towing should also be done at less than 80 km/h, while there are several features that must be turned off before towing the trailer, including Park Assist and Lane Change Alert.

As a reminder, every 2026 Cadillac CT4 uses the GM Alpha 2 platform, while production takes place at the GM Lansing Grand River plant located in Michigan.
