This $300K Porsche 911 Restomod Swaps the Gas Engine For an Electric Motor

  • Kindred Motorworks is building a Porsche 911 electric restomod.
  • It will produce 375 horsepower from a rear-mounted electric motor.
  • Production begins next year with a starting price of $299,000, and the company is only making 12 examples.

The Porsche 911 is a driver’s dream, representing the pinnacle of combustion-powered sports cars. It wouldn’t be anything without its flat-six engine, but that doesn’t mean it’s pleasing everyone. Some aftermarket makers are willing to buck the trend and swap fuel for electrons, like Kindred’s new electric G-Series 911.

The 911 will be powered by a Grayback Kindred electric powertrain with a rear-mounted electric motor. It produces 375 horsepower, 200 hp more than the original, and 280 pound-feet of torque. The battery is 400 volts, 62.2 kilowatt-hours and 40/60 weight distribution. Kindred says the car will have a range of 225 miles.

The company says the 911 will have “sharper response, more predictable handling, and a power delivery that enhances the car’s character.” This upgrade was available on 911s made from 1974 to 1989.

Inside, the Kindred adds some modern touches, like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an upgraded HVAC system, and heated front seats. It also comes with a MagSafe wireless charger, Nappa leather interior, and modern controls.

Kindred says it will produce and deliver its electric 911 starting in the first quarter of 2027. It will reveal paint details and options in August. Starting price is $299,000, and production is limited to just 12 units. Every Porsche undergoes a complete restoration.

Motorcycle Pickup1: Purists may hate restomods like this, but it’s always interesting to see aftermarket builders take iconic cars in new directions as technology changes. If the 911 is anything like other versions of the Kindred, we’re sure it’ll be good.
