- Chevrolet will allegedly build a new seventh generation Camaro.
- The Camaro will share its platform with the next-generation Cadillac CT5.
- Production is expected to begin in fall 2027.
The Chevrolet Camaro is rumored to be making a comeback. According to a new report, General Motors will build a new sports car on the same platform that will underpin the next-generation Cadillac CT5.
Automotive News reports that “a source at a key GM supplier” told the publication that Camaro and CT5 production will begin in fall 2027. The source also said that the automaker will also allegedly build a new Buick sedan with the same architecture, a body style the brand hasn’t offered since 2020, corroborating previous reports.

Sixth Generation Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
There are some rumors that GM is considering building some variants of the sedan on the next-generation CT5 platform, but the specifics are still unclear. ASources’ say the automaker plans to produce 60,000 to 70,000 CT5 and Camaro vehicles.
The automaker is currently building the Cadillac, along with the CT4, at its Grand River Assembly plant in Lansing, Michigan. Production for the smaller unit ended in June, and it is doubtful the factory will be able to operate producing just one vehicle.
The sixth-generation Camaro dies in 2023, and GM isn’t offering a direct replacement. In 2025, a report emerged stating that the automaker had rejected a proposal to revive the seventh generation model due to its weak business reasons.
It seems that the automaker has a strong proposal for the new Camaro. It will likely share a lot of hardware with the new CT5, just like before. We hope to learn more about the 2028 Camaro soon.
Motorcycle Pickup1: The possibility of the Camaro returning is exciting, and we hope it’s true. Sports cars don’t sell well, but if GM can spread its costs across multiple models, like sedans from Cadillac and perhaps Buick, then a seventh-generation Camaro would be possible. Good.
