GM Green Lights Chevy Camaro Replacement

GM Authority has brought you the latest information on the return of the Chevy Camaro, including explaining the problems with the initial proposal to bring back the muscle car following the discontinuation of the sixth-generation model after the 2024 model year, and revealing the platform that the next-generation Camaro will use. And now, we’re back… back with good news.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the General has approved a replacement for the Chevy Camaro.

Set to use the rear-drive Alpha 2 platform, the next-generation Camaro will begin production in late 2027 at GM’s Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan. The facility assembles the last generation of Camaros, and currently produces the Cadillac CT4 (which will soon be discontinued) and the Cadillac CT5. The plant will also produce the next generation CT5 (confirmed by GM in October 2025) as well as the upcoming Buick sedan, which GM Authority was exclusively told you were coming last month.

Not to bury its merits, but the intended replacement for the Chevy Camaro may not be exactly what you expect.
