The 2026 Chevy Silverado HD is largely unchanged from the 2025 model year, with only minor updates like the removal of certain RWD configurations. Despite this, capability remains the core strength of this heavy-duty pickup. Now, GM Authority is taking a closer look at the payload capacity of the 2026 Chevy Silverado HD.

The 2026 Chevy Silverado HD payload range varies greatly depending on configuration, cab style, drivetrain, and whether the truck is equipped with a single rear wheel (SRW) or dual rear wheel (DRW) setup. At the top of the spectrum, the Silverado 3500 HD delivers the highest payload rating for the 2026 Chevy Silverado HD via its Regular Cab Long Bed DRW 2WD configuration, offering up to 7,290 pounds (3,307 kg) when equipped with the 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine. Opting for the available Duramax 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel drops that figure to 6,644 pounds (3,014 kg).

More common configurations still offer substantial capabilities. For example, the Crew Cab Long Bed DRW 4WD model tips the scales at 6,428 pounds (2,916 kg) with the gasoline engine, while the diesel variant tips the scales at 5,716 pounds (2,593 kg). Even the SRW configuration remains highly capable, with the Crew Cab Standard Bed 4WD model offering up to 4,361 pounds (1,978 kg) with the gasoline engine.

The highest rating for the 2500 HD is in the Regular Cab Long Bed 2WD configuration equipped with 18- or 20-inch wheels, which can handle up to 4,081 pounds (1,851 kg) with the gasoline engine. Diesel engine-equipped variants with similar configurations generally lag behind by a small margin.
