About the Chevy Silverado 1500

The 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 debuts with only minor changes and updates over the previous 2025 model year, marking the final year of the current fourth-generation light-duty pickup before the next generation debuts for the 2027 model year. Here’s everything that’s new and different.

That includes two new exterior paint options, but the previously available Riptide Blue Metallic is no longer available to order.

Here’s the entire 2026 Silverado:

Additionally, for 2026, the Silverado ZR2, in particular, gets a previously unavailable Dark Essentials Package. The ZR2 also gets more standard features, meaning it now comes with the Chevy Multi-Flex Tailgate along with the contents of its Technology Package. It is currently offered as optional for the 2025 model year.

Here’s a side-by-side comparison of the 2026 Silverado ZR2 and 2026 Sierra AT4X.

The 2026 Silverado RST gets this important ordering change, while the 2026 model removes this important feature on certain configurations.

Speaking of trims, here’s what the Chevy Silverado High Country gets that the GMC Sierra Denali doesn’t.

As before, powertrain options for the 2026 model include a TurboMax 2.7L I4 L3B turbocharged petrol engine, a 5.3L V8 L84 naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 6.2L V8 L87 naturally aspirated petrol engine, and, finally, a Duramax 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel engine. The 2026 Silverado can tow up to 13,300 pounds.

The 2026 Silverado 1500 gets fuel economy rating changes, albeit minor.

The current manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) for the 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 ranges from $39,695 to $83,035. This includes a destination delivery charge (DFC) of $2,795. Here are the prices with options and plans.

Notably, the price of the Silverado LT Trail Boss rose nearly $12K in five years.

Chevy is celebrating the 250thth commemoration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence with a special Stars & Steel Collection, including the Silverado Light Duty Stars & Steel Special Edition. Below are photos and prices. The Bow Tie Brand has just added a Star & Armor Appearance Package.

An online configurator tool is available for the 2026 Silverado.

2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 RST Stars & Steel Special Edition

Moving forward, the upcoming all-new 2027 Chevy Silverado 1500 will feature new exterior styling and an interior overhaul, which will include a next-generation steering wheel along with more expressive cabin finishes and additional in-vehicle screens for passengers – a first for the automaker and the Silverado nameplate.

Motivation will come from GM’s new Gen 6 Small Block V8 family in two sizes – 5.7L and 6.6L iterations – and potentially even offer a new hybrid powertrain option, but which hybrid engine should go? Additionally, the Duramax turbodiesel engine will be capable of a 1,000-mile range for the first time. And the 2.7L TurboMax engine will get more power.

Here’s what to know and expect about the new machine. Additionally, the 2027 model will get this new transmission feature. It’s worth noting that the next-generation truck will be built on an evolved version of the GM T1 platform.

The new model will also offer a large dual-pane sunroof for the first time, while the entry-level Work Truck (WT) will finally get LED lighting and changes to the main grille design. Additionally, a new spy shop may indicate that the fog lights could double as cornering lights. Additionally, the High Country will offer this new seating feature.

We now know what the next-gen 2027 Silverado will look like based on patent filing images, so enthusiasts wasted no time creating AI renderings. But GM actually showed everyone the display three years ago.

Images of the new truck make us wonder if it features an updated Multi-Flex rear door design. This clearly shows that they took the most boring area of the truck – the center rear bumper – and went bigger with this body feature – a larger roof-mounted spoiler. Meanwhile, the 2027 Silverado’s doors swap curves for edges in two places.

Here are more photos for a closer look at the next-generation Silverado. Recently, a 2027 Chevy Silverado 1500 WT Regular Cab was spotted testing, and another shed the heavy camouflage to reveal more details.

Meanwhile, the 2027 Silverado ZR2 was spotted again after going off-road, then removing the heavy camouflage to reveal new details, like finally getting 35-inch tires. The Trail Boss also appears to have removed the heavy cam, and now the Trail Boss Custom has a broken cover. This prototype makes us wonder if it will reveal the Z71 off-road package.

The standard bed configuration is seen for the first time, while the High Country trim has finally caught on, along with other trims in body-hugging camouflage.

Notably, the 2027 model will drop the upscale trim, namely the LTZ, leaving us wondering what will replace it. Prime Minister, anyone?

And the dual-cab configuration probably won’t survive GM’s next generation of full-size trucks.

Finally, check out the side-by-side photo comparison between the 2027 Chevy Silverado and 2027 GMC Sierra.

GM has confirmed that the 2027 Chevy Silverado and 2027 GMC Sierra will debut this year, especially since employees and dealers are already getting a glimpse of the all-new trucks.

Production of the new 2027 model is scheduled to begin this October.
