The all-new 2027 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Electric arrives as a clear statement of intent from the German luxury brand, and does so without a direct rival from Cadillac. Although Cadillac previously explored plans to produce two electric sedans, the program has now faded, leaving the segment without a confirmed American competitor as Mercedes-Benz advances.
The luxury brand is positioning the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Electric as a reset for the segment. “The new electric C-Class redefines the mid-range segment for electric vehicles,” said Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Management Board of Mercedes-Benz Group AG. “This is the most powerful and sportiest C-Class we have ever built… while also being the perfect sanctuary for our customers.” A dual focus – performance and comfort – defines the vehicle’s mission.

The exterior adopts a coupe-like silhouette with a low front and GT-style rounded rear. The illuminated grille with optional star pattern lighting underlines the shift to electrification while maintaining brand identity. Aerodynamics play a central role, with a drag coefficient as low as 0.22 to support range and efficiency.
Inside, the emphasis shifts to refinement and technology. Mercedes-Benz leans into its “Welcome home” philosophy with high-quality materials, available vegan seats, and a serene cabin. The optional 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen dominates the dashboard, powered by the new MB.OS software architecture. The system enables over-the-air updates and integrates multiple AI platforms for voice interaction and navigation.

Performance figures place the C 400 4MATIC Electric firmly in the top segment. Output is rated at 482 horsepower, with a 0-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds. A two-speed transmission and dual motor setup balances acceleration with highway efficiency. The 94 kWh battery supports a range of up to 762 kilometers (WLTP), while 800 volt charging can add about 325 kilometers of range in 10 minutes under ideal conditions. That means a range of 473 miles and more than 200 miles on a 10-minute charge. However, EPA testing typically results in lower EV range ratings to more accurately reflect American driving habits.
Chassis technology strengthens the claim of “the sportiest C-Class”. Available AIRMATIC air suspension and rear axle steering aim to provide long-distance agility and comfort. Jörg Burzer, Member of the Management Board, describes it as offering “S-Class-like driving comfort” alongside improved dynamics.

Cadillac’s absence remains significant. Previous indications suggest that the brand will field an electric sedan competitor, potentially replacing models like the CT4 and CT5. With such uncertain efforts, the 2027 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Electric enters the market with limited immediate resistance, at least for now. This model is scheduled to reach US dealers in the first half of 2027.
