General Motors just announced that the 2027 Chevy Sonic crossover, which was just unofficially introduced in Brazil, will debut the brand’s new logo globally.

Chevrolet’s South American subsidiary announced that Chevrolet’s new logo will make its global debut on the 2027 Chevy Sonic crossover, which will be the brand’s first production vehicle to sport the more stylized Bowtie logo that the brand has used for some time on its website, social media and advertising. Sonic 2027 is described as a global project and was chosen to debut the latest logo evolution.

“The Chevrolet Sonic debuted in May with the brand’s new Bowtie emblem,” said GM South America Design Chief Alexandre Ameri. “This change follows the trend of slimmer taillights and grilles due to advances in lighting, propulsion and even manufacturing. All of this ties into the brand’s new global identity,” he added.

Specifically, the new Chevrolet logo that debuts on the all-new 2027 Chevy Sonic crossover features an updated design, with a slightly more horizontal bow tie and black as the dominant color on all versions. The company states that this new and stylish shape is more in line with the design trends of next-generation vehicles and in line with the evolution of lighting systems, which feature increasingly thin headlights.

In fact, the new emblem first seen on the 2027 Chevy Sonic crossover is the sixth generation of Chevrolet’s Bowtie logo. The entry-level SUV will feature it on the top of the front grille, rear doors, 17-inch wheel center caps, and on the multifunction steering wheel, among other visual touch points. Even though the brand hasn’t officially announced it, the updated emblem is shown with a glowing outline in the latest Sonic 2027 teaser trailer.

The all-new 2027 Chevy Sonic crossover will make its global debut in the coming days and will arrive at authorized Chevrolet dealers in Brazil in the first half of May as the brand’s biggest launch of the year in the country. Following the global debut of the 2027 Sonic, the new Bowtie logo will appear on other new Chevrolet products worldwide, starting with the 2027 model year.
