Porsche 928 Restomod Debuts Makes 400 HP In A Carbon Fiber Body

Nardone Automotive teased the restomod Porsche 928 which gives a retro-modern aesthetic to the V8-powered grand tourer and big power boost. The company plans to build eight Launch Edition examples for an asking price of €480,000 (excluding value-added tax and donor vehicles). The first customer deliveries should be made by 2024.

Nardone uses a 928 S4 as his donor vehicle. The modified coupe retains the general appearance of the original but replaces the body panels with carbon fiber trim. There are some subtle styling tweaks too. The front fascia features rectangular driving lights and a series of small holes at the tip of the nose. The pop-up headlights are still there, but the lights are now LED in an exposed carbon fiber environment.

This 928 rides on faux 18-inch wheels, not the original 16-inch diameter, but with a similar design. Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires wrap it up.

Power continues to come from the naturally aspirated V8, but the Nardone pushes output to 400 horsepower (298 kilowatts). By comparison, the most powerful 928 ever available from a factory in the United States had 350 hp (261 kW). Instead of the original five-speed manual, this one now has a six-speed manual with a limited slip differential.

Other mechanical upgrades include new axles, active dampers, improved brakes, and adaptive electric power steering.

Nardone re-upholstered cabin 928 in a blend of brown Foglizzo leather and Alcantara. The center console has a metal look that contrasts with the Porsche Classic Management infotainment system at the bottom. The dashboard is retrofuturistic with a digital speedometer using a pixel display.

928 Nardone is currently on display at Milan Design Week. After that, the company will show it at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Production of the 928 began in 1977. For a while, Porsche thought the V8-powered grand tourer might even be a replacement for the aging 911 in its lineup. While snatching the brand’s most famous creations was unheard of, the 928 stayed in the automaker’s ranks until 1995.
