Hyundai has launched the Ioniq 3, its electric compact hatchback for Europe. Despite looking like a sharper Genesis GV60, the Ioniq 3 is actually much smaller than that luxury crossover. It is also the first vehicle on the continent with the automaker’s new Pleos Connect Infotainment system.

The Ioniq 3 uses Hyundai’s 400-volt E-GMP architecture. It has a single front motor—no front tailgate—that produces up to 147 horsepower in the Standard Range model, which has a 42.2 kilowatt-hour battery and a range of up to 213 miles in WLTP Europe.

The long-range model has a 61.0 kWh battery and a range of up to 308 miles. It’s also less powerful than the standard range variant, at 135 hp, and slower to 62 miles per hour, 9.0 seconds versus 9.6. Torque is the same for both at 184 pound-feet, and Hyundai limits top speed to 105 mph.

Not a Rebadged GV60

The Ioniq 3 uses Hyundai’s new Art of Steel design language, which we recently saw on the brand’s Boulder concept. It also has a drag coefficient of 0.263 and measures 163.6 inches long, 15.3 inches shorter than the GV60.

Inside, the EV is the first in Europe to have Hyundai’s Pleos Connect Infotainment system. It runs Android Automotive OS and comes with a 12.9-inch or 14.6-inch display, depending on the trim, which includes the N Line variant.

Cut Horsepower Torque Reach
Ioniq 3 SR 147 hp 184LB-FT 213 miles
Ioniq 3 LR 135 hp 184LB-FT 308 Miles

While Hyundai launched the new Pleos in 2025 without any physical buttons, the Ioniq 3 has a row of buttons below the display. There are switches for heated seats, climate control, fan speed, and HVAC mode, as well as a knob for volume.

Hyundai says the Ioniq 3 has 15.6 cubic feet of cargo space, including 4.2 cubic feet in the Megabox, an integrated storage box under the trunk’s false floor. Other available features include a Bose premium audio system, dual-zone climate control, and LED ambient lighting.

Motorcycle Pickup1: Hyundai continues to expand its Ioniq electric vehicle line. We won’t get the Ioniq 3 in the United States, but we could get the Kia version, which should have similar specs but much less range.
