Hyundai New York Auto Show Teaser: ‘Something Big Is Coming’

  • Hyundai will reveal “something big” at the New York Auto Show.
  • The automaker released a cryptic video teasing its ‘big world debut’.
  • The automaker will reveal it at its press conference on Wednesday, April 1, at 9:55 a.m. ET.

The New York Auto Show will be held this week, and Hyundai will reveal “something big” at the event. Details are lacking beyond the automaker’s vague teaser video.

The video, which is only 15 seconds long, shows a cube-shaped rock spinning in the air against a barren landscape. There’s also someone walking towards the camera, but that’s all that’s revealed in the clip.

If we dig into the details and give meaning to the visuals, it looks like the perfect landscape for a new product based on the Crater concept. Hyundai says this will be a “big world debut”, so we expect to see the new product.

While we hope Hyundai will make the Crater a reality, it’s still unclear what the automaker has planned. Beyond vehicles, Hyundai Motor Group is trying out a variety of technologies, and, a few years ago, briefly hinted at a robot-driven future, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Hyundai will hold its press conference on Wednesday, April 1, at 9:55 ET at the New York Auto Show. Automakers will live streamed the event on his YouTube channel.

Motorcycle Pickup1: We’re excited to see whatever Hyundai has planned. We hope this is a production version of the Crater, as off-road SUVs remain popular with consumers. The automaker needed a tough competitor, and New York would be the perfect place.
