Here’s How Much The 2026 Buick Envision Can Tow

The 2026 Buick Envision arrives as the sixth model year for the crossover’s second generation, bringing with it some important changes in the process. As GM Authority discussed earlier, the update includes a selection of aesthetic upgrades, including three new wheel choices as well as new paint options. And although the Envision is positioned primarily as a premium compact crossover, it also offers some light-duty trailering capabilities. Now, GM Authority is taking a closer look at the 2026 Buick Envision’s towing capacity.

The 2026 Buick Envision can tow up to 1,500 pounds.

Looking at the spec sheet, the 2026 Buick Envision is rated to tow up to 1,500 pounds, or 680 kilograms. These ratings are consistent across the lineup, and apply to all three trim levels, including Preferred AWD, Sport Touring AWD, and Avenir AWD. Each of these configurations is equipped with the same 2.0L I4 LSY turbocharged gasoline engine and the same 3.47 axle ratio, providing identical towing capabilities across the 2026 Buick Envision lineup regardless of trim or configuration. Note that AWD is standard, and FWD is not offered for the 2026 Buick Envision.

Therefore, the 2026 Buick Envision is best suited for lighter trailering duties, such as small utility trailers, compact recreational equipment, or similar simple loads. And while it’s not intended to serve as a heavy-duty tow vehicle, the 1,500-pound weight gives this crossover an added level of versatility that’s useful for customers who need occasional towing capability.

2026 Buick Envision Towing Capacity

Model drive system Turbo 2.0L I4 LSY
Axle Ratio Max Trailer Weight (lbs/kg)
More preferable AWD 3.47 1,500/680
Sports Tour AWD 3.47 1,500/680
road AWD 3.47 1,500/680

For owners looking to tow their new Envision, GM recommends avoiding towing a trailer during the first 500-mile break-in period. Additionally, it is recommended that drivers turn off some of the onboard driving aids, such as Park Assist and Lane Change Alert.

As a reminder, the 2026 Buick Envision’s 2.0L I4 LSY turbocharged gasoline engine produces 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, while under the body panels, the crossover rides on the GM E2 platform. Production takes place at the GM-SAIC Jinqiao plant in China.
