Weeks after opening local pre-sales of the new 2026 Buick Electra E7 PHEV, General Motors has just launched the electric crossover in China.

The automaker officially launched the all-new 2026 Buick Electra E7 PHEV in China as the newest member of the brand’s Electra family of new energy vehicles, which was relaunched exactly one year ago in the Asian country with a broader focus on electrification. In fact, the 2026 Electra E7 was launched as the first crossover in its next-generation portfolio, which includes the Buick Electra L7 sedan and Electra Encasa MPV.

“Buick today announced the official launch and start of deliveries of the all-new Electra E7 plug-in hybrid SUV in China. As the first SUV under Buick’s Electra sub-brand, the Electra E7 is offered in three variants,” said GM China. “Developed for modern Chinese families, the Buick Electra E7 combines long-range PHEV capability, child-focused health and safety features, and smart technology in one package,” the company added.

As Buick previewed during the pre-sale period, the 2026 Buick Electra E7 plug-in hybrid was launched on the Chinese market with three different versions or packages: 1600 Full, 1600 Ultra, and 1600 Ultra Turbo – which directly refers to the total combined driving range of the model. All feature sleek two-row, five-seat cabins with ample space and comfort for a family experience, complete with state-of-the-art technology.

Mechanically, the 2026 Buick Electra E7 PHEV is equipped with a new “True Dragon Pro” powertrain, which combines a custom 1.5L turbocharged hybrid engine rated at 115 kW or 154 horsepower, a 165 kW or 221 horsepower drive motor, and a battery pack. The system provides a class-leading electric vehicle range of 235 km or 146 miles, and a total combined electric range of 1,630 km or 1,012 miles.

The new 2026 Buick Electra E7 PHEV is now available for sale at authorized Buick dealers in China, developed and manufactured exclusively to meet local standards. The Electra E7 is equipped with Buick’s Xiaoyao Zhixing Intelligent Driving System with 27 camera, radar and LiDar sensors, based on Momenta R6 technology. Following are the prices of the three versions of the Electra E7 in China:
- 2026 Electra E7 1600 Full: 154,900 yuan (about $22,700 USD at current exchange rates)
