Here’s How Much GM CEO Mary Barra Made In 2025

Mary Barra received her highest total compensation to date in 2025, totaling nearly $30 million.

According to reports from Detroit Free PressCiting GM’s recent filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Barra’s total compensation for 2025 stands at $29,895,868, marking an increase of 1.3 percent, or $399,231, compared to 2024 earnings of $29,496,637.

The latest compensation package consists of several components, with the largest portion coming from stock awards valued at $21,623,970. Additionally, he received a base salary of $2.1 million, which has not changed since 2017. Incentive-based compensation tied to performance targets totaled $4,956,000, while other compensation totaled $1,215,898, covering benefits such as savings programs, insurance, health coverage and use of company vehicles.

Mary Barra continues to rank as the highest-paid executive among the Big Detroit Three, with Ford CEO Jim Farley receiving compensation of $27.5 million last year, up 11 percent from 2024, and Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa receiving $6.3 million during her six-month tenure.

In a letter to shareholders, GM Compensation Committee Chairman Devin Wenig stated that the company exceeded its 2025 performance targets, leading to an 8.1 percent increase in Barra’s long-term compensation. Other GM executives also reported big earnings and similar profits. President Mark Reuss earned more than $19.3 million in 2025, up 4.6 percent over calendar year 2024, while CFO Paul Jacobson earned about $13.8 million in 2025, up about 5.5 percent over 2024.

As GM Authority discussed late last year, rumors have spread that GM’s new Chief Product Officer, Sterling Anderson, is on the list of candidates to replace Mary Barra as CEO. However, GM has responded directly to the claims, stating that Anderson joined the company in June 2025 as CPO and that any discussions regarding a future leadership role were premature and speculative. For the record, Anderson earned $16 million last year, which included a low salary of $583,333 and was part of a larger $40 million that will be paid through the 2027 calendar year.
