33,000 Corvette Units Recalled For Rear Turn Signal Failure

Posted on

General Motors has issued a recall for certain Chevy Corvette models due to a software flaw that could prevent drivers from being notified of rear turn signal failures. This issue affects 2025 and 2026 model year vehicles in various variants. If the system fails to detect a malfunctioning turn signal, the driver may remain unaware, increasing the risk of an accident.

The problem: The problem centers on the exterior lighting control module, which may not properly detect a faulty rear turn signal under certain conditions. As a result, the vehicle did not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108, which requires the driver to notify the driver in the event of a lighting failure.

The danger: If the rear turn signal goes off without warning, nearby drivers may not receive proper indication of the vehicle’s intended movement. This increases the likelihood of a collision, especially in situations that require lane changes or turns.

How to solve it: General Motors will update the software calibration in the exterior lighting control module. Vehicles equipped with over-the-air (OTA) capabilities can receive updates remotely. Alternatively, owners can upgrade at the dealer without charge.
