- A defective Rear Brake Light Blackout Detection Module is the reason for the C8 Corvette’s discontinued sales notice.
- The driver will not be warned if the turn signal stops working.
- This problem affects approximately 3,300 C8 Corvettes.
Chevrolet has just issued a cease-sale notice for the C8 Corvette. There is a problem affecting the lighting module, so the driver does not know whether the turn signal is working or not.
The Rear Brake Light Failure Detection System alerts the driver when something is not working properly. Since you need to know if your turn signals are working, Chevy has to make sure the problem is fixed before the New Balance-wearing public can continue buying Vettes.
According to Corvette Bloggerthe problem affects Corvettes starting in 2025 and 2026. In total, General Motors found that about 3,300 C8s had the problem. That’s 438 from 2025 and 2,886 from 2026.
Currently, there is only a fix for 2026 model year cars. Interestingly, all it takes to fix this situation is a software update. There is no problem with the actual hardware. Even so, it is a bit strange that only 2026 model year cars can be repaired.
Whatever it is, it looks like Chevrolet will have it all the version will soon be back in circulation. This stop-sale notice will not last long.
Motor Pickup1: This is a minor issue compared to some of the discontinued sales or recall news we’ve seen in recent years, but it still requires a fix for the car to be legally driveable on the road.
Also, us Do I still think the New Balance/Corvette related jokes are funny. If you’re upset about it, take a breath. After all, we think both New Balance and Corvette sneakers are pretty cool—depending on which model we’re talking about.
