GM Recall 2026: 80,000 Cars Affected

Posted on

As of mid-March, General Motors had conducted eight product recalls, making GM the company with the second highest number of recalls after Ford Motor Company. That said, GM total number the number of recalled cars is far less than Ford’s 7.4 million—only 80,005 GM vehicles are affected.

GM’s largest recall so far in 2026 affects 43,743 vehicles, while the smallest recall involves just 20 vehicles. GM once held the record for most recalls ever in a single year—77 in 2014—but Ford takes the title in 2025 with 153. Thankfully, the Detroit automaker isn’t on track to get close to that number this year.

The oldest model GM recalled this year was the 2012-2013 Buick Regal, which may have been built with rear toe joints that lacked adequate electrical coating. The automaker also issued a recall affecting nearly all models—from the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado to the 2027 Bolt—for lack of owner’s manuals, but only affected 5,482 vehicles.
