The GMC Sierra AT4 is well suited for off-roading, but when it comes to exterior styling options, there’s one simple package still missing.
Specifically, we went with a more comprehensive monochromatic/blackout package straight from the factory, something that finally takes away from the Sierra AT4’s shinier chrome parts thanks to a curated selection of parts.
On paper, the Sierra AT4 delivers what buyers expect – off-road capability, a taller suspension, all-terrain hardware and a bold design. It’s true that most trucks have gravitated toward darker color schemes with darker grilles and other trim pieces, but a few chrome accents remain scattered throughout the exterior, ruining the look for owners who care about details.

Chrome elements can be found on the wheels, badging and exhaust tip, which stand out against its monochromatic appearance. The result is a truck that feels a bit inconsistent visually, especially when compared to competitors that offer more cohesive blackout styling packages.

One of the stronger arguments for the Sierra AT4’s full blackout package is General Motors Already produce most of the required components. For example, the GMC Sierra Elevation offers its own Black Package, which includes black GMC emblems, black assist steps and other dark elements. The Elevation also offers 20-inch gloss black wheels (code RPO RD3) that share the same design as the standard AT4 wheels, making it an obvious swap.
20-inch 6-spoke machined aluminum wheels with Carbon Gray Metallic (NZH) accents are standard on the Sierra AT4
High Gloss Black Painted Aluminum Wheels (RD3) 6 inch 20 inch spokes only available on Sierra Elevation (and not available on AT4)
It’s also worth mentioning that GM offers a black badge package as an accessory for the Sierra, with badges for the tailgate, doors, and grille, but this is an on-again, off-again affair – with items occasionally becoming unavailable. Additional components, such as black exhaust tips and black AT4 badging, are also available, either as accessories or on the Chevy Silverado Sierra platform.

Despite having all the right components, GM isn’t currently bundling them into a single factory option for the Sierra AT4. This leaves buyers who want a completely blacked out look with two options: go with chrome, or find and install the parts one by one.
As highlighted by GM Authority Executive Editor Alex Luft in the video above and his GMC Sierra AT4, achieving a cohesive blackout look took extra time, effort and expense, hunting down a few components that could easily be grouped together straight from the factory. In our mind, this is a missed opportunity, especially considering the popularity of dark styling packages across the industry. And in a segment where visual impact is as important as capability, this seems like an easy win. We hope GM fixes this in the upcoming 2027 GMC Sierra.
