- Mercedes-AMG confirms plans for new Black Series models.
- The hardcore version serves as a homologation special for the new GT3 race car.
- The road-legal Black Series has yellow-green accents, while the GT3 version has red details.
Mercedes-AMG has finally revealed the identity of its Track Sport prototype that it has been teasing for several months. As we suspected when the first photos appeared, this is a two-in-one supercar. It not only features the new GT3 racing machine but also a street-legal Black Series model developed as a homologation special.
It’s clear the two cars are closely related, because honestly it takes a while to tell them apart. The version with yellow and green accents rides on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and will carry a number plate. The red one is equipped with racing slicks and a full roll cage, specifically for the circuit.
This road model makes it clear that Mercedes-AMG means business, with center-locking wheels, front canards, side-exit exhausts and a huge gooseneck rear wing. This car was billed as “the most radical Black Series ever”, and it can be assumed that it was a two-seater only.

Will It Have a V8 Engine?
We’d expect a V8-only setup without any electrification, thus avoiding the extra burden such a system would introduce. Mercedes-AMG is still tight-lipped about its technical specifications, but the upcoming model still has a lot to live up to. Its predecessor produced 720 horsepower, and enthusiasts with deep pockets should expect at least the same power.
At its core, the new model could feature a flat-plane crank V8, an engine that AMG may also use in the next model of the Mythos series. The project has previously been linked to the CLE 63 with an unconfirmed 646 hp from a 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine, but the GT Black Series should go beyond that.
The upcoming Black Series will sit well above the GT 63 Pro, so expect it to be priced much higher than the current flagship’s $203,550 price tag. Further details will be revealed in due course.

Motorcycle Pickup1: It’s encouraging to see Mercedes-AMG continuing to use large-capacity engines rather than going all-in on electrification. Even if the Black Series will satisfy the needs of the one percent, it’s refreshing that engineers have found a way to keep a V8 supercar in compliance with emissions regulations.
With the AMG One hypercar no longer in production, the next Black Series will be the most expensive Mercedes model in the range. Its predecessor started at $326,050 in the United States, and the new one will likely cost even more.
