The Milivié 1 is a limited-production Volkswagen Beetle restomod that aims to take the original icon and add some modern amenities. The company only intends to make 22 of them for a starting price of €570,000 each ($598,244 at current exchange rates).

After just glancing at the Milivié 1, it’s clear that the makers gave the model some major design changes compared to the original VW Bug. The company added cues from some air-cooled Porsches, such as the nose of this vehicle reminiscent of the 356. Halo-shaped LED headlights replace the headlights, and there are other lights closer to the bumper.

At the rear, the duck spoiler is attached to the engine cover. There are also horseshoe-shaped taillights.

The cabin has had a complete makeover from a simple VW. Drivers now see a 12.3-inch display for the instrument cluster and an infotainment screen with a single bezel surrounding it. There are several display modes, including displaying analog gauges. Residents have several ways to charge devices, including wireless, 220 volt, USB, and USB-C.

To build the Milivié 1, the company used a donor vehicle VW Beetle 1303. This variant arrived in the early 1970s and was larger than the original Bug. For some model years, VW sold it as the Super Beetle in the United States.

From there, builders strip the vehicle to the floorboards. It took more than a thousand man hours to rebuild the Beetle into this creation. This includes installing double-wishbone suspension at every corner. There are also front and rear disc brakes.

For power, the Milivié 1 uses a 2.28 liter air-cooled flat-four engine with a pair of Weber carburetors and electronic ignition. The company did not disclose factory output. The ZF 4HP four-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels. There are three gearbox modes to choose from: Drive, Sports and Manual.

The production process of these 22 models is due to the total volume of the original Beetle as much as 22 million units. Milivié will work with the client and customize each car to the customer. It will deliver the former in July 2023 and will deliver the latter in May 2025, according to the company’s plans.
