Cadillac F1 Team Has Chaotic Day In 2026 Miami Grand Prix

The Cadillac F1 team heads to the 2026 Miami Grand Prix in style, sporting a patriotic paint scheme to celebrate the organization’s first race on US soil. And even if Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez finished the race, they had to fight as hard as they could for it, even though the results may not paint the whole picture.

Perez was credited with 16th-place results, while Bottas took home his Cadillac F1 race car in 18thth. On paper, this doesn’t seem very encouraging, but considering the team is still in its inaugural season, the fact that both teams are consistently finishing is quite promising.

Even so, Perez was a little depressed after his stint in Miami. The race car suffered some damage that impaired its handling, but overall it performed well. The team is also taking advantage of the new package, and proving that they are heading in the right direction.

“We were racing,” he said in a post-race interview, referring to the ability of his Cadillac F1 race car to keep up with – and even compete with – its peers. “We made the most of it today… it was really fun playing Fernando [Alonso] towards the end. Unfortunately I couldn’t hold it, but overall, it was a good fight that I really enjoyed.”

He added, “We can take this package back to the factory and analyze it and see what direction we need to take… we’re not too far away to do a few clicks here and there, and that should give us a pretty good performance. Qualifying is very promising… sometimes we see little flashes of light. We need to work hard to improve it.” [tire] degradation because it seems like we degrade harder than other cars.”

Miami isn’t just for racing. The luxury brand revealed the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing F1 Collector Series model ahead of the big race which is limited to just 26 units. While this ultra-high-performance luxury sedan has striking looks, it also produces 685 horsepower and 673 pound-feet of torque from its supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4, which represents an upgrade over the “regular” CT5-V Blackwing.
