Acura turns 40 years old today. The brand launched in the United States on March 27, 1986, with the Legend and Integra, and to celebrate the milestone, Acura built an Integra tribute honoring its first race car.

The Acura Integra 40 Race, built by the US Honda Racing Corporation, is based on the first generation Integra and features a wide range of modifications. Under the hood is the original, rebuilt, 1.6-liter D16A1 four-cylinder engine and five-speed manual transmission. It originally produced 113 horsepower.

Other upgrades to the car include a Monsoon ECU, coil-on-plug conversion, stainless long-tube headers, custom Boral exhaust, and a Torsen-type limited-slip differential. It has new Tein coilovers, adjustable Panhard bars and a manual steering rack.

It has Carbotech performance brake pads, stainless braided brake lines, and a manual brake conversion. The brakes are hidden behind 14-inch Mugen rims wrapped in semi-slick Yokohama ADVAN-A050 tires.

Inside, the Acura features a custom Blackbird Fabworx roll cage, OMP racing seats, and six-point endurance harnesses. The exterior uses Rio Red Metallic paint.

The Acura Integra 40 Racer will make its debut at the 51st Acura Grand Prix Long Beach, scheduled for April 17-19.
