Chevy Camaro ZL1 Wagon Proves A Long Roof Equals Winning

Some people want to have their cake and eat it too, especially when it comes to high-performance cars. Granted, finding the ideal combination of speed and practicality isn’t always easy, but fortunately, carriages can be something of a cheat code. Now, we’re digging into renderings of the Chevy Camaro ZL1 wagon that prove long roofs equal wins.

Currently circulating on social media, this Chevy Camaro ZL1 wagon is clearly a pure digital creation, and in fact it’s a bit rough. Nevertheless, it offers an interesting look at what a high-performance fifth-generation Camaro might look like if it swapped its traditional coupe body style for something more practical.

From the front, the rendering remains similar to the fifth-generation Chevy Camaro ZL1, retaining the aggressive fascia, wide lower grille and prominent hood vents. The headlights and front bumper design are largely unchanged, giving the car an instantly recognizable ZL1 identity, despite the altered proportions.

Moving back, things get more interesting. The roofline has been significantly lengthened, changing the coupe silhouette to a two-door wagon. Subtle roof rails have been added at the top, reinforcing the utilitarian theme, while a longer roofline flows into the reshaped rear section. The side window area is expanded, with a more upright rear window improving cargo visibility and practicality (at least in theory).

At the rear, this rendering incorporates a hatchback-style tailgate complete with rear window wiper, which is another sign of the wagon’s functionality. The taillights appear to be inspired by the standard Camaro design, while underneath, an aggressive diffuser and quad exhaust outlets maintain the ZL1’s performance-focused aesthetic.

While the overall execution isn’t perfect, the concept itself is interesting. This also reminds us of the fact that the next-generation Chevy Camaro may not take the traditional shape we’re used to.
