The 2026 Chevy Silverado EV boasts technology, from the powertrain to the cabin. Unsurprisingly, the all-electric pickup also offers a variety of driving modes that can tweak various onboard systems to improve performance, capability and efficiency to better handle certain driving conditions. Now, GM Authority is taking a closer look at what each driving mode does in the Chevy Silverado EV.

Normal Mode
Normal mode is the default setting for everyday driving, both in the city and on the highway, providing a balanced blend of ride comfort, efficiency and handling, making it perfect for everyday use.
Off-Road Mode
Off Road mode is optimized for driving at low to moderate speeds on loose or uneven surfaces such as dirt, gravel, grass or snow. It adjusts throttle sensitivity and recalibrates systems such as steering, suspension, traction control and available four-wheel steering to improve grip and control.
Crane/Transport Mode
Tow/Haul mode is intended for towing heavy loads with the Chevy Silverado EV and improves overall vehicle control under load. It modifies throttle mapping, steering feel, suspension behavior, and trailer sway control to improve stability and responsiveness when towing. If the truck is restarted immediately after being turned off, this mode may remain active.

Terrain Mode
Terrain Mode is designed for riding at very low speeds on rough or technical terrain, such as rocky roads or heavily potholed roads. This maximizes torque delivery at low speeds and improves precise control, making it especially useful for crawling scenarios or tasks such as pulling a boat out of the water.
Wide Open Wattage
Wide Open Watts mode unlocks the maximum power output of the Chevy Silverado EV for short bursts of acceleration. However, it is not intended for continuous use, as it may reduce the overall driving range and may be limited when the battery is low.

My mode
My Mode allows drivers to personalize the vehicle’s driving characteristics to suit their preferences. Through the infotainment system, users can adjust settings such as throttle response, steering effort, suspension tuning, and even interior motor sound.

Four Wheel Steering Automatic Mode
In Auto Mode, the Chevy Silverado EV’s four-wheel steering system operates in the background to improve maneuverability and stability. At low speeds, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels to reduce the turning radius, making it easier to park and maneuver on narrow roads. At higher speeds, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front wheels to increase stability when changing lanes and turning.

Four-Wheel Steering Sidewinder Mode
Sidewinder mode allows diagonal movement of the vehicle by turning the rear wheels in the same direction as the front wheels at low speeds, improving maneuverability in tight or challenging environments.
Four Wheel Steering Mode is Off
Four-Wheel Steering Mode Disables the rear steering function completely, leaving only the front wheels to steer the vehicle.
