Last Chance To Order ’26 Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra Reg Cab

Time is running out for buyers looking to order a new 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 or 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 in a Regular Cab body configuration.

According to sources familiar with the matter, dealers should submit final orders for these configurations the week of April 27th2026, marks the last opportunity to specify the new Regular Cab light-duty pickup straight from the factory (at least for the current generation).

Production of the 2026 model year Regular Cab pickup is currently scheduled to wrap up on June 30th2026. However, as with all production schedules, this date is still tentative and could change at any time in the future. However, once the order window closes, remaining availability will be limited to dealer inventory.

The Regular Cab versions of the Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 are currently offered in just one trim level, with the 2026 Silverado 1500 Regular Cab downgraded to Work Truck (WT) spec, and the 2026 Sierra 1500 Regular Cab downgraded to Pro spec. All Regular Cab units are produced at GM’s Silao plant in Mexico, with GM’s Fort Wayne plant in Indiana or GM’s Oshawa plant in Canada focusing on other configurations.

As GM Authority previously discussed, production of the Double Cab configuration for the 2026 model year has ended. With the end of Regular Cab production, the Crew Cab model will be the final body configuration for the 2026 model year Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500. It remains to be seen whether GM will continue to offer the Double Cab body configuration with the launch of the next generation of trucks.

For readers who may have missed it, the next-generation 2027 Chevy Silverado 1500 and 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 will both debut a variety of updates, from exterior design (as seen in patent images published last year), to overhauled cabins, to new powertrain options. Both trucks will use an updated version of the current-generation GM T1 platform, while the next-generation model uses an architecture known internally as GM T1-2.
