In a special event announcing the first details of the all-new 2027 Chevy Sonic crossover, General Motors claimed the new model will be the best-selling vehicle in its class in Brazil.

The vice president of Chevrolet’s South American subsidiary officially stated that the all-new 2027 Chevy Sonic crossover will be the best-selling compact crossover in Brazil, giving the first indication of the commercial strategy being prepared for Chevrolet’s most important launch of the year in the country. Therefore, the company projects that Sonic will have a significant impact on the Brazilian market and lead one of the fastest growing segments in the local market.

“The new Chevrolet Sonic was born with a very clear strategic decision: to compete strongly in one of the most competitive market segments, namely compact SUVs,” said GM South America Vice President Fabio Rua. “And mark my words, this will be the best-selling compact SUV in Brazil,” he added.

Notably, statements from top GM South America executives reveal the strategic role that the all-new 2027 Chevy Sonic crossover will play in the Bowtie brand’s vehicle portfolio in Brazil, anticipating an aggressive positioning strategy to increase sales volumes. Rua himself stated in February that GM’s new South America chief, Thomas Owsianski, who was recently appointed to the position, came with the aim of gaining market share.

Although the company has not revealed the exact positioning of the vehicle, the new Chevy Sonic crossover could play a special role as the brand’s entry-level utility vehicle in various subdivisions of the small crossover category in Brazil. Specifically, the 2027 Sonic, with a length of 4,230 mm or 166.5 inches, will be positioned as an “SUV Coupe” above the All New Chevy Onix Activ at the bottom and the Chevy Tracker.
The all-new 2027 Chevy Sonic crossover will make its global debut and launch in Brazil in the second quarter of this year as Chevrolet’s key strategy to boost sales in the South American country. The new entry-level crossover will soon begin production at GM’s Gravataí plant to supply the Brazilian market and lead GM’s exports to the rest of the region starting in the second half of this year.
