Volkswagen will recall 48,165 Jetta sedans due to fire risk. Affected vehicles may have a disconnected transmission ground wire. This can cause open circuits and excessive current draw, increasing the risk of fire.
According to recall reportduring production, some affected vehicles were built without a properly connected transmission ground wire, which is used to close the oil pressure unit’s electrical circuit. There are no warnings or indications that would reveal a defect in the Jetta.

Volkswagen first became aware of this potential problem in December 2025. Two field cases indicated that the ground cable may not have been connected properly. In February, the automaker confirmed that unconnected ground wires could result in open circuits, increasing the risk of fire. In early March, VW decided to carry out a recall.
The automaker said it was not aware of any accidents, injuries or deaths related to the defect, but it was aware of three incidents involving melted oil pressure unit wiring and connectors, as well as three fires in the engine bay. VW will repair this problem for free, checking the transmission ground wire and repairing it, if necessary.
