The Cadillac Formula 1 Team has finally recorded its first laps, fueling anticipation among F1 fans and the luxury brand. With Sergio “Checo” Pérez in the driver’s seat, the luxury brand’s race car embarked on a menacing all-black finish through 18 corners at the Silverstone Circuit in England.

“Today is truly an extraordinary day,” said Pérez. “Everyone should feel incredibly proud to have completed our first lap as a team. Each and everyone has worked hard to get to this moment and it feels incredibly emotional to be part of motorsport history. We can all, and should, enjoy it, but this really has me fired up for more. I just want to get back in there and get some mileage in – this is just the start.”

“Today represents countless hours of hard work, commitment and belief from everyone involved in the team,” added Team Principal Graeme Lowdon. “This shows the progress we continue to make in a short time. This is a great opportunity for the team to immerse in a live garage environment, verify the car’s systems and iron out any initial issues. But this is just the start; we are now turning our attention to pre-season testing in just a few weeks’ time, which will provide even more opportunities to learn.”

While it looks fantastic in black, we’re curious to see the final shade. Cadillac will unveil its final livery shortly after Shakedown Week on February 8thduring Super Bowl LX. The first race of the season is scheduled for about a month later, in Melbourne.
