Mercedes-AMG GLB35 Facelift Spying Keeps Change Under Camo

We only saw the updated Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class in early August. Now, we’ll take a look at the AMG 35 variant of the boxy compact crossover in this new spy shot.

As you’d expect for an AMG model, the GLB35 sports a Panamericana grille with vertical slats. Although, the company adapted the development vehicle to the egg-crate look here to keep others guessing. We wish there was a more aggressive front fascia, but hidden under the camo. The vehicle has the same revised daytime running lights as the standard model spied on before.

The rear only received a few changes to the taillight graphics. The exact change isn’t obvious due to the camouflage, but Mercedes covering it all up is a sign of revision.

The styling changes are certainly minor but fit in with Mercedes’ normal strategy of refreshing the vehicle. Companies tend not to make radical style changes.

There are no interior spy shots yet. Like the exterior, there may only be minor changes to the cabin. Improvements to the infotainment system are possible because this technology is a selling point in this segment.

Similarly, powertrain changes are likely to be very minor, perhaps non-existent. The current GLB35 uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 302 horsepower (225 kilowatts) and 295 pound-feet (400 Newton-meters) of torque. An eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox sends power to the all-wheel-drive system. The powertrain takes the crossover to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph (249 kph).

Mercedes will reportedly simplify its lineup of small and premium vehicles in its next generation of products. The GLA- and GLB-Class will survive because there are still many crossover customers. However, the A- and B-Class will disappear after 2025. This will make the brand’s smallest traditional car the CLA-Class, and a Shooting Brake variant will also be available.
