It’s nothing new, you’ll say, but you have to pay attention to one detail in particular: a trick that many are implementing but which, if caught, is likely to cost dearly with fines close to half a thousand euros.

Let’s take a look at what it is about, how to recognize a booklet in order and above all what to do if there are inaccuracies that could be fined.

Car registration document: pay attention to this detail, you risk a very high fine

To explain what we’re talking about, let’s examine an episode that happened a few weeks ago, especially on the day of the Immaculate Conception. Moreover, it is known that it is precisely on public holidays that checks by the traffic police are sometimes intensified.

A 22-year-old man was stopped at a checkpoint for what was supposed to be a routine check. In the course of their checks, however, the police officers they found out from the booklet that the car was registered in a foreign countryprecisely the state of origin of this person.

What’s the problem? The point is, that’s how it comes violated what article 93 bis of our Highway Code sayswhich provides that any car circulating on Italian territory must also be registered in our country, even if this operation has already been carried out abroad.

Naturally we are not talking about all cars, given that tourists certainly cannot register their car according to Italian law every time they come for a tour of the Bel Paese. No, the limit concerns those who have taken up residence in Italy and own their own car: the latter must be registered within the three months following the certification of residence.

The fine foreseen in this case was 400 euros, but in the most serious cases it can be even higher, reaching up to 500 Euros. It doesn’t end there: because the inevitable must be added to the “package” of sanctions withdrawal of the registration certificate and the commitment on the part of the driver to provide for the Italian registration of the vehicle as soon as possible.

Yes they have 30 days time to proceed or, alternatively, you have to move the car outside the Italian borders, a naturally impracticable and meaningless solution, especially if you have taken up residence in our country.

In the event of recurrence or non-compliance with terms, the agents are authorized to administrative confiscation of the machine. So if you bought your car abroad, be very careful.
