2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV Teased Ahead of July 18 Debut

[ad_1]

Chevrolet announced the Blazer EV in January, teased it in March, and today gave our first full look at the upcoming crossover. We won’t have to wait long for a full overview and model reveal. General Motors CEO Mary Barra took to Twitter to also announce that they will be introducing the model on July 18.

We first heard about the Blazer EV at CES back in January, when the brand announced the Silverado EV and Equinox EV. The new Blazer EV will use GM’s Ultium EV architecture which will underpin several vehicles from Chevy and its sister brands. The architecture places the battery on the floor, giving GM a scalable skateboard platform for use across its entire lineup.

While Chevrolet hasn’t detailed the powertrain specs yet, we expect the Blazer EV to offer a range of between 250 and 300 miles (402 and 482 kilometers). That puts it in direct competition with the Ford Mustang Mach-E, which offers a range of up to 314 miles (505 km).

However, Chevy isn’t shy about this EV sporting the coveted high-performance SS badge. We don’t know what that means for the new Blazer. Power often comes at the expense of an electric vehicle’s range, but if possible it’s worth doing that if it competes with the Mustang Mach-E, with the GT trim making 480 horsepower (357 kilowatts) and sprinting in under 4.0 seconds to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers). per hour).

New images show an attractive crossover sporting a different design that separates it from the gas-powered Blazer. The proportions look a little slanted, but we’ll pin them in the corners of the photo. The black greenhouse and black accents around the bottom pinch off the deep red exterior color that covers the curved sheet metal.

There’s a big divot on the door where it meets the front fender, and that’s where the charging port is. Chevy teased it back in March, suggesting the charging door closes automatically after removing the charging cable. The video also shows the SS badge on the wheels.

Thankfully, we have more than a month before Chevy reveals the new Blazer SS EV crossover. It will go on sale next spring, but it’s unclear if it will have a staggered launch for the trim. We hope to get all those details when it officially debuts on July 18th.
