The trademark has recently been filed by FCA under the Stellantis group at the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and this may serve as a hint as to what Ram will name its first electric pickup truck.
That trademark is for the name ‘Revolution’ – filed on 27 January 2022 and discovered by CarBuzz. The trademark application indicates that the name will be used for motor vehicles, particularly passenger trucks.
Currently the trademark office only accepts trademark applications but has not submitted them to examiners. The app is also not specific to the font style, size, or color of the sign.
To recall, Stellantis has confirmed that it will introduce a BEV (battery electric vehicle) version of last year’s Ram 1500. The company announced it in a presentation, with Ram CEO Mike Koval saying that production of electric Ram trucks will begin in 2024.
The Ram 1500 BEV is set to compete with the Ford F-150 Lightning, Silverado EV, Rivian R1T, GMC Hummer EV, and finally, the Tesla Cybertruck.
Ram hasn’t provided any details on the electric 1500 except for the shadow teaser you see in the gallery above. As you can see, it features a tall grille, narrow lighting elements, flared badges, and a sleek greenhouse. This, however, is expected to change.
Ram may be late to the EV truck party but Koval says the company is “not following in the footsteps of our competitors.”
For the record, Ram may or may not no uses the Revolution trademark for electric trucks. But given the timeline and meaning behind the name, there’s a high chance that this will happen. After all, electric pickups will revolutionize the way we see trucks – from fuel-intensive workhorses to eco-friendly machines.
