2022 Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo Teased With Fancy Visual Upgrades

[ad_1]

Skoda unveiled the fourth-generation Fabia in May 2021 and is now gearing up to round out the supermini lineup by teasing its flagship trim level. Having ruled out the RS version, the Monte Carlo teased here for the first time will serve as the top of the range after going on sale later this year in Europe. Just like the other Czech brand models available in this spec, it will basically be a cosmetic package.

An adjacent sketch shows a subcompact hatchback with a two-tone look combining a predominantly red body with a black roof. The side mirror caps also have a darkened look, and we can say the same about the corporate grille and A-pillar. We were given the impression that the Fabia Monte Carlo has colored headlights and taillights combined with black front and rear aprons.

Other visible tweaks include large wheels, likely 18 inches as Skoda already offers this size for the lower Fabia version and a larger alloy set would be overkill. The cabin continues the red and black theme while featuring custom Monte Carlo graphics on the touchscreen, faux carbon fiber, and sportier seats. We see a lever gearbox belonging to a six-speed manual, which means a 1.0 TSI three-cylinder engine will be on offer.

However, we believe a larger 1.5 liter four-cylinder unit will be available as the Monte Carlo will serve as the “RS lite” version. Beyond the visual improvements, Skoda could tweak the suspension and bring the Fabia a little closer to the road, but that should only be in terms of hardware changes. Much like the Rapid and Kamiq available in Monte Carlo flavours, the equivalent Fabia should boast a generous list of standard equipment.

The latest generation Fabia is already significantly more expensive than its predecessor, and it goes without saying that the Monte Carlo will fetch a significant price premium. You’d probably be better off buying a lower-spec Octavia than a fancy B-segment hatchback, but to each its own. With 1.5 TSI available only with DSG, expect to pay over €20,000 for the VW Polo R-Line from Mladá Boleslav.
