Mercedes-AMG A45 And CLA 45 Edition 55 Revealed With Upgrades

BMW celebrates half a century of its M division in 2022, but arch-rival Mercedes is marking its own anniversary. Equivalent performance branch, AMG, blows 55^th candles on his birthday cake through several special editions. We’ve already seen the A35, CLA 35, and G63 in the “55 Edition” variants, and now it’s time to check out the CLA 45 Edition 55. Coupled with the A45 hatchback and the CLA 45 Shooting Brake.

Mercedes-AMG has only shown an image of the swoopy sedan, which will be the only one of the three sold in the United States where the hatch and wagon body models are not available. This sporty compact car received the AMG Aerodynamic package with a thinner front apron containing a beefy splitter and bumper canards. On the back, you’ll see a new deflector on what we were told was a “simulated air duct”, which is just a fancy term for fake vents.

A peek from Affalterbach claims all the extra bits are more than just for show once developed in the wind tunnel. To beautify the 55th Edition, Mercedes presents the Night Package with various glossy black exterior elements and quad exhaust tips with a dark chrome look. Additionally, the Panamericana grille gets a black grille while the model badge is also black.

Customers can get the car in this hidden Digital White Metallic or Cosmos Black Metallic. All vehicles use 19-inch AMG alloy wheels with a Titanium Gray finish and the words “Edition 55” on the center lid. There’s also a retro sticker along the bottom of the door that clearly shows the AMG logo. Even the silver fuel filler cap carries the letters AMG to indicate the point.

Stepping into the black and red cabin, you’ll find more of the Edition 55 references, along with two-tone leather seats and a black 12 o’clock mark on the steering wheel. The door sill plates light up with the red AMG logo and you even get an AMG-branded black velor floor mat with red stitching.

Those who get the extra cash for the regular 45 or 45 S also get a black indoor car cover with a silver AMG logo. The 55 edition is available as a package for €14,280 or €12,614 (German price) if you step up to the hotter S model. The cars are already available to order and will be offered until December. Only 55 CLAs are coming to the US, with prices to be revealed later this year.
