Even though they couldn’t beat the Acura race car in the end, the No. engine. 5 and 31 battled back and forth for the lead as the 24-hour gap grew late into the night. Despite some problems in the middle of the race, the Acura No. 60 stalked both Cadillacs, looking for opportunities to steal the lead. Finally, a pass was made, with the Acura No. 10 slipped through the gaps as well, and neither of them looked back as the Cadillac team battled to defend third and fourth place with checkered flags.

No. 48 DPi-VR had an incident just after 2am with Johnson at the wheel. The punctured tire sent Johnson spinning, resulting in a collision with the No. LMP3 car. 3 followed by a second clash with Mercedes No. 15. A lengthy repair was required to address significant damage to the suspension component on the right rear, effectively ending the No. bid. 48 to win the race.
