Hyundai continues its record sales pace from 2025 with more big numbers in 2026. That momentum will help the brand heading into 2027 as it plans to add a number of new models to its current lineup.
Some of these vehicles are completely new, while others are refreshed or updated versions of existing members of the Hyundai family. However, there is a new powertrain option that could prove quite attractive to electric car fans.
Here’s what you can expect.
Hyundai Elantra: Fresh Style

Hyundai’s popular compact sedan will get a refresh. There won’t be a major overhaul, but we expect to find changes to the nose and tail as well as an updated interior layout.
However, powertrain options are expected to remain the same for the standard variant, and this isn’t a bad thing considering the Elantra’s current position. But there will likely be a new Elantra N engine on the way. Wait and see.
Hyundai Ioniq 3: Not For The US?

The Hyundai Ioniq 3 is a compact electric hatchback that has a range of over 300 miles and decent power. This looks like a great option for budget-conscious entry-level electric vehicle buyers. There’s just one problem: we don’t currently get this one in America.
It’s a shame, considering current fuel prices and the average price of a new car. Of course, demand for electric vehicles is slowing, but it hasn’t disappeared. And consumer sentiment could again favor certain electric vehicles if they provide adequate range and a good starting price.
The Hyundai Ioniq 3 has the potential to be a hit in America, at least in markets with adequate charging infrastructure.
Hyundai Kona: Refresh or Full Overhaul?

Hyundai will stop production of its Kona EV in 2026. This happens because supply in 2025 is still higher than expected. But now buyers in Kona can have something more exciting to look forward to.
We’re expecting a completely updated Hyundai Kona for the 2027 model year. The goal is to give the subcompact CUV a more rugged edge. The design direction aligns with other ongoing changes to CUVs, SUVs and trucks in the Hyundai family.
The 2027 Kona could come with a choice between a 1.6-liter turbocharged hybrid model and an updated EV version. Both will feature Hyundai’s latest cabin technology to complement the automaker’s move towards a more Crater concept-inspired design on the outside.
Hyundai Santa Fe: EREV Enters

Hyundai has spent a lot of money investing in its Georgia Metaplant. However, we still haven’t seen them all scheduled to roll off the assembly line there. The automaker has long talked about bringing long-range electric vehicles to market, and it seems the time has come. The 2027 Hyundai Santa Fe will likely offer an EREV powertrain option.
Think Chevy Volt here, if you’re not sure what an EREV is. Basically, you have a vehicle that can be driven as an electric vehicle, with an electric motor and battery. You can charge it as usual, but you also have an internal combustion engine that acts as a generator for the battery.
If your juice is running low and your fuel is also running low, you can simply fill up the gas tank. This, in turn, will provide electrons for the battery, and you can get going again.
The Santa Fe EREV should provide a range of around 560 miles.
Hyundai Tucson: Overdue Update

The Hyundai Tucson has remained a smart choice for SUV buyers for two decades now. Hyundai’s compact SUV had to adopt a boxier exterior aesthetic while retaining current family design traits, such as lighting elements.
It’s safe to assume that Hyundai will continue to offer hybrid and plug-in hybrid options for the 2027 Tucson. Additionally, we’re hearing talk of a potential performance version of the Tucson N, which could be coming soon. That model will likely feature a 295-horsepower hybrid setup and all-wheel drive.
Unfortunately, the next generation Tucson will probably ditch the combustion version instead. This could cause a significant jump in the starting price of the 2027 Tucson.
What’s Next For Hyundai?

Hyundai’s two most interesting upcoming models both share the same platform: an SUV and a pickup truck based on the Boulder concept. The duo likely won’t arrive as a 2027 model year vehicle. Instead, we believe they could land between 2028 and 2030.
Regardless, Hyundai still has time to return the Boulder design to something more akin to the Crater Concept. This vehicle remains the coolest vehicle Hyundai has released in years.
However, Hyundai is strengthening its already strong lineup with a range of sedans and crossovers. There are several powertrain options, lots of vehicles at different price points, and something for everyone. Hyundai’s sales records could continue to pile up.
