This nine-minute spy video shows the next-generation Porsche 911 GT3 RS so good you’ll crave it every Green Hell type of interaction, digital or otherwise.
Usually, when we talk about spy photos of future vehicles, we talk about what we can see. This time, let’s talk about performance because Unlucky This car looks fast. Admittedly, the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine up to 9,500 rpm adds to the illusion of speed. The video opens with the GT3 RS prototype entering the Nordschleife from the pit lane, and the test driver wastes absolutely no time pushing the engine to its limits. The car responds, and just like that, we’re not talking about illusion speed. It’s just a quick flat-out.
Since then, we’ve been treated to several GT3 RS prototypes jumping from corner to corner, the occasional exhaust tone mixing with the tire scrub as the driver strikes full swing at every turn. As you’d expect from a 911 with the RS lineage, there’s no visible body roll and it’s not for lack of speed. Aside from a brief pause at 2:47 where we see a car off the track, this session is all about pushing these test cars to their limits.
What can we expect when the GT3 RS is finally revealed? The aerodynamic changes from the standard GT3 are quite noticeable, starting with the massive rear wing which is even bigger on the RS. The thin hood vents from the GT3 are also much bigger here, and don’t miss the fender vents that have become a staple of the RS. The roof straps, brake cooling ducts, all combine to make the GT3 RS an absolute monster on the track. The engine should also have more power, likely somewhere north of 520 horsepower.
With the GT3 debuting just over a year ago, we expect Porsche to reveal the GT3 RS sometime now.
