  • Honda Heritage Parts offers reproduction parts for classic Honda and Acura vehicles.
  • The first model covered is the first generation Acura NSX.
  • This is a global service under the Honda Heritage Works banner, which also handles restoration.

Honda has a division called Honda Heritage Works. Today, the group has two subdivisions devoted to restoring and maintaining classic Honda and Acura vehicles. And one of them will soon be the owner of a first generation Acura NSX very like.

Honda Heritage Parts will start selling new parts for older models. The first model recorded was the first generation NSX.

The goal is to keep these icons on the road and support owners who value their vehicles. Honda will offer two different types of parts through this program: Genuine Honda Reproduction Parts and Honda Compatible Parts.

Genuine Reproduction Parts are parts that are manufactured using the same materials and production methods as the original component. However, Honda Compatible Parts are parts that have been redeveloped and can replace certain original parts that are no longer available.

While the program starts with the NSX, Honda says it is evaluating other models from both sides of the family. There are no prices for the parts yet, but parts offered through the program will be available to order at Acura dealers starting this summer.

However, if you have the desire to take your NSX to the highest level, Honda Restoration services have you covered. Currently, the program only exists for Example of the first generation NSX in the Japanese market. And it’s not cheap.

Basic restoration services perform a full engine shutdown service on the car and replace any parts that need to be replaced. Honda will replace suspension components, door parts that may be damaged, and also weather seals.

This service starts just north of $70,000. For an additional $41,000, Honda will disassemble your car until the body is white and repaint it. Want to work on the interior too? That’s a little over $23,000 based on current exchange rates. Expensive? Very. But essentially you’ll have a brand-new, factory-prepped first-gen NSX.

In any case, it’s great to see Honda supporting its older models. It would be great to see future vehicles added to the program, but the initial NSX is a good start.

Motor1’s opinion: We hope more manufacturers take this route to keep it going Their classics are on the way. Of course, there is plenty of after-sales support for many older cars. But there’s something even more special about using original car manufacturer reproduction parts. The fit may be better, the quality will be endorsed by the car manufacturer, and it may make your vehicle more attractive when you sell it later.
