- Honda recorded 515 Prelude sales so far this year in 2026.
- The target is 4,000 units annually.
- January and February are typically slow months for car shopping.
If you listen to the Internet, you’d assume that the new Honda Prelude exists as an insult to everything its fans hold dear. The car was too expensive, too underpowered, and didn’t produce a product worthy of the badge on the back.
It’s a good thing car buyers actually go out and experience things for themselves, right? Honda has moved 515 Preludes so far in 2026. Considering January and February are typically the slowest car buying months on the calendar, this puts the Prelude on track for a strong year.
The Honda Prelude actually outperformed one of its main “competitors,” the Subaru BRZ, in February. Honda sold 299 Preludes to 277 Subaru BRZ units. Surprisingly, both cars have died so far in 2026, 515 units each. Another special fan sits right in front of the Introduction. Mazda sold 330 Miatas in February and has sold 725 units so far this year.
We still don’t have February sales figures for the Toyota GR86, but it’s likely the best-seller of the bunch. Toyota moved 711 units in January
| Model | Sales February 2026 | Total Sales 2026 |
| Mazda Miata | 330 Units | 725 Units |
| Honda Introduction | 299 Units | 515 Units |
| Subaru BRZ | 277 Units | 515 Units |
Of course, those numbers may not sound like huge numbers (they aren’t), but Honda says the Prelude is in the sweet spot in terms of sales. The company is targeting 300 to 400 units per month in the US.
It will be interesting to see how Prelude begins to improve as we slowly enter the warmer months of the year. Sales will continue to increase, and Honda should have no trouble reaching its annual target of 4,000 units.

Motor Pickup1: After driving the Prelude, we can say that it is a fun driving machine. Yes, of course it feels a bit expensive. And we agree that the Si version would be a welcome addition to the Prelude lineup. But this car certainly strikes a great balance between excellent daily drivability with enough sporty edge to keep things fun.
It’s no surprise that people who spend money on such things would gravitate towards the Prelude—even if the Internet would have you believe the car would be a sales disaster.
