Dacia Jogger Gets Four Cylinder Hybrid Engine With 140 HP

The Dacia Jogger is currently the most affordable new seven-seater vehicle on the European market and has received positive reactions from media representatives and customers. The main disadvantage of this model has always been the lack of a four-cylinder engine in the range and Dacia finally answered the criticism by announcing a new four-banger hybrid.

In fact, the Romanian automaker promised to add a more powerful engine to the Jogger lineup when the vehicle was launched about a year ago. Dacia will unveil the Jogger Hybrid 140 during the 2022 Paris Motor Show and, as the name suggests, the plant will have a peak output of 140 horsepower (104 kilowatts). This is a healthy upgrade from the previous most powerful unit, the 1.0-liter three-cylinder petrol engine with 110 hp (81 kW).

Dacia didn’t go into exact specifications of the new hybrid engine, although we suspect the Jogger Hybrid 140 will get a 1.6-liter electric powertrain from the Renault Clio. In the small French hatchback, the combustion engine is powered by an electric motor and an integrated starter generator to produce a peak power of 140 hp (104 kW). The powertrain is mated to a CVT gearbox, sending power to the front wheels.

If that is indeed the arrangement the Jogger will accept, it will turn the seven seats into one of the most advanced models Dacia is selling today. The Jogger is also the longest and widest vehicle in the company’s lineup with a length of 4.55 meters (179 inches) and a cargo volume of 708 liters (25 cubic feet) in a five-seat configuration. If you fold up the second row seats, you get an impressive 1,819 liters (64.23-cu ft) of load area to work with.

Dacia will reveal all the details of its first production hybrid technology next week during the 2022 Paris Motor Show. The order book for the electric wagon-SUV-MPV mashup will open early next year with the start of sales planned for spring 2023. The first deliveries should not be made before summer. next year.
