Mobilize Renault Debuts Tiny Solo And Ileo EVs With One And Two Seats

Announced early last year, Mobilize is the fourth Renault Group brand and has been designed to provide car sharing services. In other words, you can’t actually buy a vehicle because it’s only available through a subscription plan. Naturally, the mobility company is all about EVs and will have two show premieres later this month at the 2022 Paris Motor Show to follow the much larger Limo sedan from 2021.

Starting with the Solo Concept, it’s a pint-sized electric car that measures just 1.37 meters (54 inches) long. As the name implies, this car is a single-seater and has only three wheels: two front wheels that are driven and one rear wheel that handles the steering. It can be pushed from a joystick without a license, and you don’t even need to wear a seat belt or helmet. Top speed? Speed 16 mph (25 km/h).

The small EV has a wraparound asymmetrical body and is equipped with airbags along with a foot-operated emergency button. Once pressed, the vehicle will stop in case of an emergency. The Mobilize Solo features reclining seats that tilt forward to allow for a larger cargo area while the entire body and interior are washable. The driver jumps into the car always from the left side and will have no problem in the urban jungle given that it is only 0.9 meters (35 inches) wide and 1.75 meters (69 inches) high. Because they are so small, six of them can fit in a regular parking lot.

As for the Ileo, Mobilize has developed the concept as a two-seater with a tandem layout and a built-in stand for bicycles and electric scooters. Its larger footprint means there’s enough room for a coffee table and display stand. Both EVs are made from 50 percent recycled materials, and at the end of the life cycle, 95 percent of their parts are recyclable.

Regarding charging, the Solo can charge its battery via a wired or wireless connection. Alternatively, the pack can be exchanged for a new battery. The Ileo can be recharged at 22 kW via a DC connection.
