Can the Ford F-150 Lightning Beat the Ram TRX in a Drag Race?

We are now in the era of electric pickup trucks and of course without any power loss due to transmission, plug-in trucks are very fast. In fact, the fastest trucks you can buy today are mostly electric trucks – with the exception of the Hellcat-powered Ram TRX.

For the record, the Ram TRX is officially as fast in sprints of up to 60 miles per hour (97 kilometers per hour) as the Ford F-150 Lightning, which stands as one of the fastest pickup trucks of all time. Both trucks can do it in just 4.5 seconds, which should top the list right behind the GMC Hummer EV and Rivian R1T.

That, of course, will change once the Ford Raptor R’s performance figures come out. The Raptor R is now the most powerful F-150 ever built; it’s slightly less powerful than the TRX, though it’s important to note that it’s also lighter. It’s actually interesting to compare the Raptor R versus the TRX, given their obvious rivalry.

Going back to Lightning and TRX, both are evenly matched in a hundred year sprint, but how do they compare in drag racing? Fast Track Truck pitted the two on the drag strip, which saw EVs lose to ICE-powered trucks. If the Blue Oval here was the Raptor R, this would be an even more interesting fight.

Meanwhile, the video also introduces a pumped up version of the Ram TRX called the Tyrant performance pack. Developed by Nth Moto of Minnesota, the Tyrant package essentially represents the official “Redeye” version of the TRX with an engine reworked to produce 787 horsepower. only 702.

The TRX Tyrant isn’t officially available through Ram but you can get it from Granger Motors of Iowa for over $93,000. One variant of the TRX Tyrant even comes with 37-inch tires that come standard on the Raptor R.
