The 2027 Cadillac Lyriq will retain features that many electric vehicle buyers still consider important: wired and wireless Apple CarPlay compatibility and Android Auto compatibility. This smartphone connectivity feature is frequently mentioned in car buyer surveys as a must-have feature for their next car.
This makes the 2027 Cadillac Lyriq a standout in General Motors’ growing lineup of electric vehicles, as the automaker continues to phase out third-party smartphone mirroring in favor of Google’s built-in infotainment ecosystem. According to GM Authority source, the luxury crossover will remain the last GM EV sold in North America to offer both systems.

This decision is different from other recent moves in GM’s electric product portfolio. The 2026 GMC Hummer EV removes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as part of a broader infotainment overhaul for the 2026 model year. There was a time when the top trim Chevy Silverado EV didn’t have these features, but the base model did. But WT is also dropping both features in 2026, signaling that GM remains committed to pushing customers toward its original software platform.
GM first outlined the strategy in 2023, when company representatives said that built-in apps could offer a smoother ownership experience. “We have a lot of new driver assistance features that are more tightly coupled with navigation,” said Mike Hichme Reuters at the time. “We didn’t want to design these features in such a way that they depended on someone having a phone.”

But for Cadillac, the Lyriq seems to be an exception. The model remains an important product for the luxury brand as it expands its electric vehicle lineup with vehicles such as the Cadillac Optiq, Cadillac Vistiq, and Cadillac Escalade IQ.
The 2027 Cadillac Lyriq is also slated to receive North American Charging Standard (NACS) connectors and will support new commercial hearse variants. For buyers who don’t want to stop mirroring smartphones, this may be the most important model update.
