The Chevy Blazer will skip the 2027 model year entirely, and General Motors is now preparing a mid-cycle refresh that will now debut for the 2028 model year.
For readers who may have missed it, it initially appeared as though GM was preparing to discontinue the ICE-powered Blazer after the 2025 model year. Since then, however, GM has changed course, opting to refresh the ICE-powered Chevy Blazer with revised styling, updated technology, and a few other tweaks.

Production of the 2026 Chevy Blazer at GM’s Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico is currently scheduled to end in September. Meanwhile, production of the updated 2028 Chevy Blazer is scheduled to begin in the first half of calendar year 2027 at GM’s Spring Hill facility in Tennessee. As such, there will be a relatively small production gap between pre-refresh and post-refresh models, allowing dealers to clear remaining pre-refresh inventory before the arrival of the updated 2028 Chevy Blazer. As a result, there will be no 2027 model year Blazer.

As for the refreshed model, the 2028 Chevy Blazer is expected to continue the existing design and continue the basic shape and proportions of the current model. However, the refresh will include numerous revisions to the front and rear fascias, including a more upright and squared-off front end appearance. Expect to find sleek upper lighting elements, which will likely function as turn signals and daytime running lights, complemented by lower-mounted main headlamps, an approach that has been used in some of Chevrolet’s recent crossover models. Updates to the cabin are expected to be more substantial, and will likely take inspiration from the Chevy Traverse with a 17.7-inch central infotainment screen combined with an 11-inch digital instrument cluster. The center stack is also expected to feature fewer physical controls.
Powertrain details are yet to be confirmed, but for reference, the model is currently offered with a 2.0L I4 LSY turbocharged petrol engine, as well as a naturally aspirated LGX 3.6L V6 engine, depending on trim and configuration.
