It looks like JLR’s long-time design boss, Gerry McGovern, has officially left the company. Really, this time. His departure from the automaker, scheduled for the end of March, follows reports late last year that he had been “escorted out of office”. JLR denied it at the time, but perhaps it was premature.

JLR allegedly notified its employees via memo about McGovern’s departure from the company. automatic car obtained the memo, which was confirmed by the automaker. He plans to set up his own creative consultancy.

He then worked at Jaguar and Land Rover for more than 21 years, where he was responsible for models such as the Land Rover Defender and Range Rover Evoque. He also led the design team for the Type 00 concept, which was highly controversial.
