- Ford offers a bespoke GTD purchase and delivery process.
- Mustang GTD buyers take delivery of their cars at Porsche dealers.
- The Mustang looms large next to a lineup of 911s.
The Mustang GTD is a special kind of Ford. The car has a starting price of over $300,000, a limited production run, and a special purchasing process that includes shipping the 815-horsepower Mustang wherever you want it—and we mean literally anywhere.
One GTD buyer recently took delivery of his Mustang in an unlikely place: his local Porsche dealer. He posted about it in reddit captioned, “Ford wasn’t kidding when they said they’d send the GTD wherever I want.”
The owner chose a stunning green exterior color for the coupe, with an exposed carbon fiber hood and roof and a yellow racing stripe down the middle. Under the hood is a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine capable of pushing the car to speeds of over 200 miles per hour.
The Mustang looked big—and out of place—next to a row of Porsche 911s, but Ford insisted on giving buyers the best. Just over a month ago, the Ford Mustang Instagram page created post highlighting GTD shipping with a caption citing GTD brand manager Joe Bellino. Bellino said:
‘Each Mustang GTD delivery is coordinated directly with the owner and personally arranged by Ford. On delivery day, our team works closely with dedicated carriers to manage final details, perform pre-delivery inspections, and prepare the car so it is ready to be shown off for the first time. It’s an owner’s day and a big moment, so our role is to make it as smooth, informed and unforgettable as possible.’
Motorcycle Pickup1: Ford is serious about pleasing its customers, even if that means sending its high-priced 911 GT3 RS rival to Porsche dealers. The GTD is a different type of product for the automaker, and it is expected to provide the best for customers at this price point.
