BMW has finally made a proper M3 wagon, but we’re still waiting for the full reveal that will happen this year. BMW has already teased it, so its debut isn’t long in the future. Until then, though, the new spy shots will keep us excited for a new model that we won’t be getting in the US. A new set of photos shows the M3 Touring’s cold-weather testing in Sweden.
BMW hasn’t provided details about the model, so it’s still unclear where the M3 Touring fits into its lineup. New photos help to defuse this, revealing that this example wears the M3 Competition badge. This is in line with previous reports that the wagon will produce 503 horsepower (375 kilowatts) and 470 pound-feet (650 Newton-meters) of torque from the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six. All-wheel drive is standard, and there may be underpowered variants.

The new photos also reveal a bit of the interior, albeit tightly closed. However, it is impossible to miss the large screen that stretches out in front of the driver. The M3 Touring will arrive with the facelifted 3 Series, meaning the M3 Touring and the rest of the 3 Series lineup will get BMW’s latest display technology and software. We don’t see any other significant interior changes, but they may be hiding.
The BMW M3 Touring will go on sale before the end of the year, and BMW is already teasing it, so its debut should be just around the corner. We already know the M3 wagon won’t be coming to the US due to the high cost of homologation for the US market, but it could be a sought-after collector’s car in a few decades. We expect more information to come out as we get closer to the car’s launch, and there should be more teasers as well.
