The Maserati Grecale will debut this spring, and the Italian brand has a new set of teaser images showing the crossover speeding through the snow. It continues to wear bright red camouflage which makes the vehicle stand out in contrast to the white snow.
The pictures show the development of Grecale in Sweden and the Lapland region of Finland. Cold conditions vary from slightly above 0 degrees Celsius to -30 Celsius (about 32 degrees Fahrenheit to -22 Fahrenheit). Maserati is evaluating the crossover for start-up and cold-weather rideability, such as traction and steering.

Grecale will make Maserati a suitable offer under Levante in its ranks. Despite the camouflage, this vehicle clearly has a generally rounded styling, except for the fairly flat grille in an upright position.
The spy shot offers a glimpse into the Grecale cabin (gallery below). There’s a digital instrument cluster and a landscape-oriented infotainment screen. The HVAC control also appears to have its own screen to control the settings.

Powertrain details for the Grecale remain a mystery. Performance-focused versions of the Trofeo are reported to use the 621-horsepower (463-kilowatt) twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 from the Maserati MC20 or the 502-hp (374-kW) twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 from the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio. Maserati’s product plans say an electric version is also coming.
Grecale was originally supposed to debut in Milan, Italy, on November 16, 2021. However, the company pushed the reopening to spring 2022 due to a global semiconductor shortage. At the time, Maserati said the new model’s “breakthrough” technology required microchips that were in short supply.
Outside of the general timeframe that takes place in spring, an exact debut date for Grecale is still not available. Look for it to be available for the 2023 model year. We don’t know yet if Maserati intends to launch a Trofeo version simultaneously or introduce the performance model later.
