Porsche lovers know what the T badge stands for. They also know it only adorns the trim levels of the two Porsche models, namely the 718 and 911. Now, the German automaker’s first Touring SUV is here. Say hello to the Porsche Macan T 2023.

Traditionally, Touring models fill the gap between base and midrange trims in the Porsche lineup, offering a little more excitement without going overboard. That’s the case here, as the Macan T sits right between the standard model and the Macan S. As such, it retains the entry-level Macan powertrain – a 261-horsepower (195-kilowatt) turbocharged 2.0-liter four-pot, sending power to the all four wheels via a seven-speed PDK gearbox.

From there, the Macan T gets the Sport Chrono Package and Porsche Active Suspension Management as standard equipment. Opt for the optional adaptive air suspension and you’ll get a stiffer sway bar that’s specific to the T. The Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus is also tweaked for the Macan T, but like the adaptive air suspension, it’s an add-on option that goes against the standard. Porsche says the Macan T can reach 60 mph in 5.8 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than the base model. Top speed is still 144 mph.

Naturally, the Tiger T comes with some visual enhancements both inside and out. Gray trim adorns the mirrors, roof spoiler, grille and side rockers. The rear logo is also gray, and to add to the darkness, the Macan T sports black trim around the windows and exhaust tips. 20-inch wheels with Macan S influences are standard, as are eight-way heated sports seats with special Macan T trim. Drivers and passengers will also find a standard edition sports steering wheel, Sport Chrono stopwatch on the dashboard, and Macan T branding on the door frames.

Last year, Porsche sold 24,716 Macans to US buyers. Adding the Macan T could bring in more customers, but that will depend on price and Porsche doesn’t share that information until the spring when the order bank opens. The current entry-level Tiger starts at $54,900, with the Tiger S starting at $65,400. It’s safe to assume that the Tiger T MSRP will fall somewhere in the middle.
